I should have guessed from the lame attempt at a joke in the title about exactly what sort of film I was getting myself into.
I must admit, the trailers for got me slightly excited about it. Not enough to pay to see it at the cinema but enough to entice me to watch it at home. After watching it, I wish I hadn’t bothered.
To be as fair as I can to the film, I’m not the 13-16 your old teenage boy that it must be targeted at and so it’s constant attempt to make jokes about drugs or sex didn’t really appeal to me.
The story begins with a loser brother and his heroic brother setting off on a quest to save a damsel in distress from a tyrannous wizard.
However, the main character (the loser brother played by Danny McBride) is a complete tool and at no point in the film did I care about his progression.
In a real low point of the film the two brothers are molested by a wizard in return for some information…the less said about that the better.
I will admit that there may have been a few points where I managed to raise a smile but these were few and far between and all of the other terrible jokes made me feel bad for doing so.
If you aren’t a very immature teenage boy I’d suggest you spend your time doing something more satisfying than watching this film. Isn’t there any paint drying near you that you could watch instead?
